Egg whites?

This morning, I tried gave Isaac a few bits of egg whites to try with his breakfast. I had given him a few little pieces the other day, and he seemed interested. Today on the other hand. . . a somewhat different story.

Isaac has become very helpful around the kitchen! Just today alone, he helped with the groceries AND the dishes! He's such a fantastic little helper!

Earth Day!

In celebration of Earth Day, Isaac and I geared up to do a little beach clean up. Lucky for us, it was simply glorious outside! Sunny, warm, and barely any breeze, which is always helpful when Isaac is wearing a hat! Which lately has been any and every time we step outside!

He lucked out and got my bright baby blues, but also gets the sunshine sneezes like I do whenever the sun is in his face. Plus, since I'm weary about slathering sunscreen too close to his eyes, I always stick a hat on his adorable little head. Luckily he really doesn't mind wearing hats! Which is really spectacular, since I have yet to find any suitable sunglasses for him!

I stuck him in our new hiking pack, and hit the trail to the beach! Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, there was not a spec of trash on the beach at all! All I got to pick up was one gum wrapper! Not wanting to feel like I was wimping out on Earth Day, Isaac and I spent most of the rest of the day outdoors! It would have been too hard not to.

A few days ago, I showered our backyard with bird seed, and each day we have a few new ones to gaze at! This afternoon, I couldn't even count them all!

Now, I certainly do not have any shades of green on my thumbs, the most success I've ever had with any sort of plant, was grass! Ha, who can screw that up? Needless to say the flowers on our property are few and far between, but what's there has finally started to bloom! Hooray for mother nature! Hooray for Earth Day!

Big Stander!

It's official, with 4 months and 23 days to go to his first birthday, Isaac took a step.
He's been standing on his own for about a week now,
well pulling himself to a standing position that is.
Yesterday morning I was plugging in my laptop on one couch,
I turn around and Isaac has pulled himself up on the other.
As I'm watching him,
he lets go of the couch with one hand and takes a step!
At this rate,
he's going to be ready to run his first road race by June!
I bet my sweatbands for my wrists will fit on his little legs perfectly!
He can wear them as leg warmers! Ha

Way to go little guy, way to go!

Chicks!

Isaac and I met up with a few friends at a little playground this morning. It was such a gorgeous day, we had to be outside! We had a really fun time on the swings!

Afterwards we had a few errands to do before he headed home. One was to stop at a local grain store and pick up some bird seed. I have been feeling bad that I've been so neglectful of the birds outside, especially since we have so many, and Isaac loves to watch them all the time.

As I began exploring the back of the store, I heard this little chirping sound. I walked a little further and found what or who I should say, was causing al the racket! A shipment of baby chicks! There must have been close to a hundred of them! Isaac practically leapt from my arms at them, it was very difficult to keep him just beyond an arms reach from them!

I instantly found MY favorite, it looked like it had cheetah print feathers! I wish we could have gotten a few, but I just really don't think Fluffen can take too much more! Ha

Lucky for me!

As many know, I am pretty fanatical about what Isaac eats. Almost obsessive I'd say. Well, perhaps just over cautious about what goes into his little body. I feel that it is incredibly important. I have been making his baby food since he started eating. I really enjoy doing it, but I have been feeling like I'm running out of options for him. And I don't want him to just be eating the same few things over and over.

I have been reading Happy Baby, the organic guide to the first 24 months, since I was pregnant. And I get allot of my ideas from there. I think it's a tremendous guide, and believe that everyone should raise organic babies!

Michael, Isaac and I were in the grocery store a few days ago, and I came across something miraculous! Happy Baby meals!

Normally I'm very resistant to buy any sort of prepackaged baby food, but I feel really good about these. They're made from only organic ingredients, and have no added sugar, which I've found a few of the more popular baby food brands have. Blech.

Isaac simply adores these two, and I think they're fantastic. Not every day, I'll still be creating the majority of his meals myself, but I think these are a great idea to toss in the diaper bag, in case we're ever stuck away from home at lunch time!

Hooray for Happy Baby!

Movin' on up

Since Isaac started eating foods, I've been feeding him in his Bumbo seat, with the tray attached to it. However, since he is growing so fast, his little bum seems to not be fitting in there so well anymore.
Plus, since he is beginning to feed himself, I thought it was just about time to get him into a real highchair.
I was happy to see that it had arrived the other day, and lucky for me, it took virtually no assembly! Isaac was very eager to help though!
Tonight was the big first night in it, and he did marvelous! I think it will be a BIG success!

Whew, no wonder I'm going grey

So, over the past week or so, Isaac has decided that it's quite delightful to scare the living day lights out of me. It started on Sunday. We were at my nephew Jacob's lacross game. Isaac was doing fantastic, and really chumming it up with any and everyone who paid him any attention. He must have gotten a little too excited, because he spit up a little bit on my shoulder.
I wiped him off, then stuck him in his stoller, took off my puke splattered sweatshirt, and wheeled him back over to where we had been standing. I hadn't stopped the stroller for more than a moment, when my friends' son Olin said "he's crawling out"
I managed to grab Isaac or should I say Houdini, in mid-fall, just as his feet left the stroller, and he was aiming head first toward the ground. I have to admit, I came VERY close to soiling my jeans in that moment.
I'm still considering having Olin be Isaac's stand in God father! I mean, he's already saved his life!

The next time Isaac tried to fly was yesterday morning. He had finished his breakfast, so I put him in his pack n play, so I could attempt to clean up a little bit around the kitchen. Ian came upstairs for breakfast and to get his things ready for school. Well, when Isaac got wind of that, he stood himself up, and launched himself out of the pack n play! Well, tried to anyway. He was less than succesful, thank heavens.
The minute Ian and Michael left, I dropped the bottom of that pack n play real quick! Now he can stand up all he wants, and he's not getting out of there! Knock on wood!

Big things!

So, this week we've had a few milestones! On Friday, Isaac FINALLY said Mama!! I was fine being called Dada, but it was music to my ears when I heard that little word come out of his adorable little mouth!
Last night, I finally bit the bullet and gave Isaac some meat. I decided to try chicken first, since it's a pretty simple protein, and thought it wouldn't be too hard on his little digestive system. I boiled it, then blended it with some organic stock. The first bite faces were pretty classic, but he didn't seem to mind it.
Today I was eating a piece of halibut, and he seemed really interested in it. So I broke up a few pieces and put them on his Bumbo tray. I fed him one or two bites, then he took it from there! It was not only the first time he had fish, but also the first time he fed himself! His technique was funny, but effective! He'd make a fist, with his thumb out, lick his thumb, then push it onto the fish, to get it to stick, then into the mouth it would go! BIG success!

Our talented little musician

The other day, Isaac and I were the only people who showed up for our play group. It could have gone terribly wrong, but lucky for me, Isaac discovered his love of music!

Easter x3

Hooray! We got to open the Easter baskets today when Ian got home from school, and they were a big hit! Who knew that a simple pin wheel could be so entertaining?

Isaac and I got a VERY early start to our Easter this year! So early in fact, that I'm not entirely sure that I even fell asleep the night before! I wanted to get a few more shots outside, with some glorious flowers somewhere but that just wasn't in the cards.

My brother, sister in law, nephew, Isaac and I went to brunch in town, and had a fabulous time! Unfortunately Michael was working and couldn't join us. Isaac did great, everyone took turns feeding him, which he thought was great. I think he could tell that Jacob was the most nervous, because he punked him for sure. He did a fake sneeze, with a big mouthful of food, which sprayed all over Jacob!

Since it was Isaac's very first Easter, I really wanted to find an Easter bunny to get a picture of the two of them together. Well, that was tough. Apparently, there was only ONE on the island? I'm not quite sure what that's all about. Anyway, we found him, and Isaac was certainly NOT a fan. Poor little guy. I can't really say that I blame him, he was the creepiest bunny I've ever seen.
I think for next year I'll look for an arm chair sized stuffed bunny to take pictures with!

We had a very nice family dinner at my parents' house last night, and hopefully we'll be enjoying the Easter baskets at our house tonight, since Ian was with his mom yesterday! I can't wait to see all the goodies ; )

Happy Easter!

I have been trying to figure out what the heck I was going to put Isaac in for Easter pictures, and couldn't figure anything out. Well nothing too amazing anyway. This morning while doing a massive amount of laundry, I happened to be sorting through some of Ian's old baby clothes and came across something PERFECT! A baby chick costume! True, it was a tad on the small side, but he didn't seem to mind too much that I squeezed him into it!

After I snapped a mere 200 pictures of him in that adorable costume here at the house, I decided it was too nice to stay indoors. So, I recruited a couple of friends and we walked to a local florist to snap some more! He did really well for a little while, but slowly got crankier and crankier, so the photo selection got a bit scarce.

I'll be sure to post more once Easter actually comes!
