Ride, Grampy, Ride!

Since he has been battling cancer these past few years, my dad has lost the strength in his leg, which he needs to be able to ride his motorcycle. Which, as long as I can remember, has been one of his favorite things to do. Last weekend, a local motorcycle mechanic, who is also a great friend of my dads, threw a benefit for him.
He's been a member of a local motorcycle club here on the island, for years, and it was very touching that they all raised enough money to get my dad a sidecar to attach to the bike he already has.
So this benefit, was the grand unveiling of the new bike, sidecar and all! It looked amazing! I'd never actually sat in a sidecar before, and had no idea how roomy those things are! You can fit a ton of stuff in there!
I'm not quite sure I'm ready to let Isaac ride in it, but soon enough I'm sure he'll be cruising around Katama with Grampy. At the respectable speed of 5mph of course!

Nature Walk

A few days ago, Caitlin, Isaac, Pyker and I went on a nature walk. We had driven past this road, and saw the sign for it, the last time we were up island. Neither one of us thought we'd ever been there, and wanted to give it a go.
It turns out we'd both been there, but had no idea where it was! It turns out we stumbled upon Duarte's Pond, where I had been fishing many times for the kid's fishing derby.
It was a really beautiful area, with tons of frogs and lilly pads, and lots of shady wooded trails. We even saw a chipmunk, which apparently only live in West Tisbury, nowhere down island.

Apparently, we walked for a little longer than we thought we would. Isaac didn't quite make it!

Happy Birthday Story Jean!

Today, Isaac went to his first birthday party! Well I suppose it was his second, but the first one he went to, he was only two weeks old, so didn't enjoy all the festivities! The birthday girl is a good friend of Isaacs, and they have been playing together twice a week, since about January. She was actually the first baby his own age, that he'd ever laid eyes on.
We had so much fun! Isaac was a little unsure about the large ducky man who was there. But he WAS sure of one thing. . . he loves cake and ice cream! Now, until today he hadn't had any sugar, and I'm sure he won't be having any more any time too soon! I only managed to have two bites of cake, and had a pounding headache soon after, so I can't only imagine what was happening inside his little body!
I wish I could have taken more pictures, all the babies had such a blast! But of course, my camera battery died half way through the party : (

Happy Happy Birthday Story Jean!

(This made me even more excited to have Isaac's birthday party now!)

Nine months, whew!

Isaac and I just got back from his nine month doctor appointment. He is weighing in at 20lb 1oz, and 29 1/4 inches tall, which his doctor says is great! The magical nurse, who never makes him cry, wasn't there today, and since he is 100% caught up with all of his shots, we're waiting on those until his next appointment.

Way to go little guy!

Just a couple of boys having some fun

This afternoon, Ian and Isaac took advantage of the break between rain showers by burning off a little energy outside. I tried to capture the giggles, but was just a little too slow getting the camera out. Fooey.

We have been doing some much needed landscaping around our yard. Michael was about to run the lawn mower, thus his seemingly silly attire.

Dock Street for three!

We're very lucky to have a little dinner here in Edgartown, that's been here forever. A little hideaway spot, that few more than the locals even know about. A perfect little greasy spoon, with gloriously delicious food of the breakfast and or lunch variety.
Michael and I actually got up very early the morning after our wedding, went down there for breakfast and ran into two of our groomsmen. . . they hadn't quite made it home yet!
We hadn't had the opportunity to bring the wee one there yet, but with Michael having a much needed day off, today was the perfect time! Isaac did great! I was hoping to get him some pancakes, but french toast was a tremendous second choice. He even helped me finish my eggs!

3/4 of the way to a year!

So, it recently occurred to me, that Isaac is more than half way to his very first birthday! Truthfully I've been doing a little light searching for party supplies, but nothing too serious.
I'm thinking I'll do a woodland theme, with some fun animals, owls, raccoons, and such. I had no idea I would have such a tremendously difficult time finding party supplies to fit this theme! I found some really terrific ones, in pink of course. Why pink? Why couldn't they make them with a neutral background, like tan?! Arg.
Good thing I still have a little time!

I'm not going to have it be a costume party, this year anyway. But if I was, I'd stick him in this outfit for sure! Maybe I'll still get it, and he can flap around for Thanksgiving? Or a harvest festival? HaHa

And I really want to make these cupcakes for the other guests, but maybe not use such rich chocolate.

My sweet lil' native

Apparently, the fact that Isaac is a true Vineyard native is beginning to shine through. To date, he LOVES the beach, and only gets upset if/when you try to take him out of the water! I'm thankful for the fact my daring sister isn't scared of the ocean's arctic temperatures!
We've only had one day of sand eating, and he seemed to get that temptation out of his system...REAL quick!

Relay for LIfe

This weekend was the Relay for Life, which is a 21 hour relay that takes place each year at our local high school track. All money raised for or at this event goes to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Although Isaac and I were able to help set up our team tent, we were struck by such a nasty thunder and lightning storm, we weren't actually able to do our part walking around the track.
I was really disappointed that we couldn't do more to help.

I suppose there's always next year!

The watermellon monster

Although Isaac has had his fair share of frozen watermellon, thanks to his Nuby Nibbler, until a few days ago, he hadn't eaten it by hand. I'm pretty sure that he's consumed an entire watermellon since Monday. And hasn't shown any signs of slowing down any time soon! I've taken to stripping him down to just a diaper when I give it to him. That way it's much easier to either plop him in the tub, or a pool after. Much easier to clean up that way!

(The last picture is his watermellon monster face. I hadn't refilled his supply!)
