Gearing up for springtime!

We have been trying to take advantage of the slightly longer, ever so slightly warmer days. Which means, extra long walks, many more trips to the playground, lots of playtime outside. We can't get out the door without being prepared to feed every bird in the neighborhood.
Isaac has gotten very particular about where he sprinkles the seeds. It's not in the traditional places that you may think, the bird feeder is where I start, but not him. He sprinkles them along the driveway, in certain shrubs, on the front steps, in a planter in the front yard, on the bottom branches of one of the trees on our front steps, and so on. Don't bother trying to steer him away either, he knows exactly where he wants to puts them, and he's very consistent and very determined to get his daily chore completed in his own way.
That's totally fine with me, as long as the birds get fed!

New Fish x 5

Somehow, our luck with pet fish ran out. We lost an entire tank full in a week. Lucky for me, Isaac didn't even notice!

We have refilled the tank with five goldfish this time. They're much easier to take care off, although they seem to make the tank more messy. I'm very thankful that we have those sucker fish in there to clean up after them!

We didn't bother naming these guys, or gals, I'm not quite sure who we have in there!

A mini family vaca!

At the end of February, we took a little mini vacation for a few days and headed to the Cape. I found a great place with an indoor wave pool, and according to my brother, it was a pretty fun place to be.
We're pretty lucky here on the the Vineyard, our school vacation is always a week after the rest of the cape, so we can usually avoid any crowds around here. As it turned out, the resort was practically abandoned. Which made it seem like the place was our own private hotel!
When we left the island, we had my nephew as well as our own boys, that gave Ian someone a little closer to his own age to splash around with, and take advantage of the two water slides.
Isaac met a little boy who was about his age, and had a fun time splashing in the waves at the waters edge. By the last day, he was brave enough to walk out to his belly! That of course, made me very proud.
Ian and Michael had a great time in the arcade. There was a small playground in the courtyard, which Ian, Isaac and I played on the first afternoon. The boys really had an absolute blast! This was Isaac's very first time sleeping at a hotel, I had fun just watching him explore. I'm pretty sure that the curtains and the heater were two of his favorite things. Oh yes, and the tub, he certainly enjoyed that tub!

Unfortunately, I wound up coming down with a stomach bug, which landed me in bed the whole time. It didn't hit me full force until the first night we were there, so at least I had time to take a few hundred pictures! Thank goodness for that!

The big 1-0

Yesterday, Ian celebrated his tenth birthday! Double digits!

We had a really fun time last night with family, lots of laughs and cake of course! Everyone agrees that we are so blessed to have such an amazingly caring, sweet, bright, loving boy in our lives.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IAN BAE!

Snowy days

We were very lucky to have a white Christmas this year! I'm not sure I remember more than a few of those living here. It was really fun for the boys to play in. And we've been blessed with a few more little winter storms since then.
I like to look at the snow from the warmth of the living room, but yesterday I was feeling bad that I hadn't tussled around in the winter wonderland with Isaac. He wasn't thrilled to get all bundled up, but once we were out there he was in heaven!
One of our neighbors dogs hopped over the fence to join in the fun with us, after a few licks and a lot of laughs, she jumped back over the fence into her yard.
Isaac loved tasting the snow from different parts of the yard, which was hilarious. He just had such a blast, I forgot how much I don't like being cold!!

It's been a while. . .

I still can't believe that the holidays have come and gone. They seemed to flash by so fast before my eyes!

Thanksgiving was a big success, Ian and Michael helped me to create a marvelous feast, which we then schlepped to my parents house. Poor Isaac didn't eat anything except crackers that day, so his belly was too full for any turkey.
Christmas came zooming in at 100 mph. The boys had a blast making cookies for Santa. Who must have really loved them, because he certainly blessed us with lots of fun toys and gifts!
Baba and Gigi (Michael's parents) came to visit for the Christmas holiday, unfortunately we got slammed with a terrible winter storm, and he had to get home before he got stuck. Baba stayed the whole week, which was wonderful! We had such a great visit with her, and can't wait for them both to come back!
New Years was pretty quiet around here, I think we were all asleep, or just about, before the ball even dropped!
We celebrated our nephew Jacob's birthday, and now it's on to Ian's big day on Tuesday! I can't believe that he's going to be TEN! A whole decade old, man how time really does fly by.
