Farmers Market

I still can't believe that until this summer, I hadn't ever been to a Farmer's Market here. We've been trying to get to as many as possible. I love seeing all the local farmers offering their best of the best.

Family Day on the Pond

My sister has become a master at paddleboarding these days, and she asked if we would like to join her. Ian was a natural and took to it right away! Isaac and I were in a kayak together and Michael took the other kayak. He wanted to try his luck with fishing.
We had so much fun, it was a beautiful day, full of lots of laughs. I can't wait to do it again!

Grampa Trance

Michael's father and younger brother came for a visit, and we got to do some tourist stuff together. I can't believe that I have lived on this island for practically my whole life, and I hadn't seen more than two of the islands' lighthouses! Isaac instantly fell head over heals in love with his "unnle Sssam". I wish that their visit could have been a bit longer. Hopefully next time!
I was very happy that they were here when our pool arrived, a few extra sets of hands came in very handy with the set up, that's for sure!

Happy July!

I can't believe that it's taken me so long to update my blog! Apologies all around. . .

This has been a fantastic month so far for our little family. Isaac has really started to love the water, he is embracing his native island roots! He asks to be "sploshed" about 1000 times in a row, which means he wants to be thrown into the water. It's really cute to watch, but man my arms get tired about about the 15th time!
I had to work on the 4th of July, but Michael took him to the annual parade here in town. He met up with Ian, his mom, step brother and step dad, which from the looks of the photos, was a really great time!
Isaac told me all about it, the loud firetrucks, the alpacas, the beads, and the candy that he got. I love that he is starting to string sentences together!

The babies are turning 2!

Yesterday we celebrated Isaac's friend Story's second birthday, and it was a blast! It seems like yesterday when all of our babies met each other. And it seems like the day after that when we were celebrating their first birthdays!
Story and her family live in West Tisbury, and they have this amazing property, complete with rolling horse pastures and all. There was tons of room for them all to run around, screeching and squealing and in turn wearing themselves out!
We had so much fun, and it gave me some great ideas for Isaac's birthday, even though it is a few months from now.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STORY JEAN!

Another day, another farm

The other day, after our fire station adventure, Kate, Isaac and I headed down the road a bit to one of our all time favorite local farms. The Farm Institute is a teaching farm, they have summer camps for kids, tons of volunteer opportunites for everyone in the family, along with a multitute of extremely helpful people who work there, of all ages who can answer any questions you may have about anything farm related.
I love getting their almost daily updates about what's happening over there, it makes me feel very connected to something very special to us. Isaac and I have been going there since he was very tiny, so together we have seen so many of the animals grow and change just like him.
In an update that I got over the weekend, I learned that there were two mama pigs bringing a ton of piglets into the world. I of course wanted to jump up right then and head down, but I forced myself to hold off for a few days.
When we got there, a whopping 23 piglets had been born over the weekend! And even more had been born that day! Two of the mamas were close to the edge of the barn stall door, so we were able to get a really great view of her gorgeous babies! One of them was so brave, it came right over to Isaac! He could have reached out and touched it, but instead he screeched loudly, and the poor thing bolted.
We were able to enjoy the rest of the farm, (eventually) when I had had my fill of teeny, tiny, precious, blue eyed baby piglets. There were some older, toddler aged piglets, very cute, tons of chickens of all ages, even fluffy baby chicks, goofy looking turkeys, cows, goats, and some sheep.
I was really glad that Kate came along with us, it was her very first time on that farm, and I have this funny feeling that she'll be going back again real soon.

Isaac the Fireman!

We have been reading allot of books about trucks lately, and one of Isaac's absolute favorite trucks in his books are fire trucks. Isaac, my friend Kate and I were very lucky to get a special tour of our town's fire station the other day. Kate has a sister who works there, and she was a fantastic tour guide! She even helped Isaac into the fire trucks, and gave him his very own fireman's hat!
Luckily, Kate is such a good sport, she hopped right into the truck with him, and thank goodness she did, because she provided the sirens! (with her voice, not the real sirens!)
I had been telling Isaac all about when my dad, his Bampie, was a fireman. I hadn't even been into that fire station since then! We even got to see an old photo of him on the wall, I liked that, Isaac didn't seem to be all that impressed though, ha.
After we toured and tested each fire truck, we ventured into the Ambulance room. I had only even been in an ambulance on the way to the hospital, and that is never too fun. They were so much bigger than I thought!
I have this strange feeling that we will be visiting Hadley at the fire station quite a bit!
