Isaac has found that his favorite Christmas song to sing is Jingle Bells. Although he hasn't managed to sing the whole thing quite yet, so it goes something like this "Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, alllllllll the way along, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, allllll the way aloooooooong"
It's a work in progress, he'll get the hang of it, sooner or later (I hope!)
This weekend we were quite busy with pre-holiday festivities. On Saturday we met up with our group of tiny tot friends to watch the annual Christmas in Edgartown parade, which I have to say was far better than any I've seen in past years. We saw tons of great floats, the nativity scene, a border-line inappropriate dancing Santa and naughty helpers, Frosty the Snowman, alpacas, a goat riding on a tractor, some really fun singing dancers, and keeping up the rear, SANTA himself, riding on a fire truck!!
After the parade, we had a rough time catching up with Santa for a snapshot. He is quite elusive!! It was certainly worth the wait. I thought Isaac was going to pop with excitement! I couldn't help but laugh at him when he wriggled his way to the front of the line, poked his head into the room and said "Hi Santa (with a little wave) It's me, Isaac, Hi" Then came back into the line. Hahaha, he's TOO much!
There was a full moon that night, and we took full advantage by going on a moonrise walk at Felix Neck. The sunset was spectacular! The sky was a bit too cloudy to get a clear view of the moon, so those photos came out a bit blurry : (
It was freezing cold out, but well worth it. Isaac was a real trooper too. I was surprised he did so well, it was a very long walk, without a stroller (I blew out the tire on the way to the parade) and I had to wake him from his nap to make it in time! What a champ. He loved listening to the owls, and the headlamps were a huge hit, especially since we were the only people who had them. Clearly nobody else thought ahead. Pashaw. It's always far better to be overly prepared, in my opinion.
Today, before I had to work, Isaac and I met up with my mom, and my nephew at Cedar Tree Neck, to cut down a Christmas tree. I had irrationally high hopes for something amazingly fabulous. Something out of a Real Simple or Martha Stewart catalog. . . Not so much.
I quickly realized why these trees were free. It was really fun anyhow. Isaac picked out a fantastic little tree which I helped him cut down. He carried it (part of the way) back to the car, and when we got home he wanted to decorate it for the birds.
